Dear Emily,
If I took that sentence in its literal sense, not figurative one, then you would be asking if men want women to be independent or for me, personally, to depend upon them. And let me tell you this, If I was emotionally dependent upon every man in the world my mobile bill would be SO big and the majority of the men would find it disturbing having a stranger being emotionally dependent upon them and texting them all the time and sending MMS’s of myself in jeans going “Duz my butt luk big in ths?xoxoxoxoxoXO pls rite bck”
But back to what I really think you’re actually asking. I think most men prefer independent women. When ladies are emotionally dependent upon a man, that man has to think waaaaaay to much about what to say, how to phrase things and what he should be doing to make her happy. That leads to him eventually not saying or doing much in case it’s the wrong thing and would rarely expresses himself or show his own personality, turning the relationship into a sham.
With independent women it’s a completely different relationship. She’s free to feel how she wants and he’s free to be himself and say what’s truly on his mind. The couple would interact on a more equal level and be all the stronger for it.
