    Dear, Kia…

How do I beat my horrid Facebook addiction? It’s preventing me from having a *real* LIFE!!

    Lani, 18

    Dear Lani,

I’m glad you wrote in as the first step to healing is to admit you have a problem.  I sympathise with your position, I really do!  Why should anyone leave the house to catch up with maybe one or two friends when it’s possible to sit at home in daggy PJs and catch up with 500?!!  And why spend money to look great when a perfect profile pic says it all?

SIGH.  Well, beating this addiction is going to be hard.  I’m assuming it came about from extensive and intense uni work procrastination!  How about instead of hitting your friends up on FB you should text them and slowly increase your texting while decreasing the hours you spend on FB.

Note that it’s not a good idea to have FB running on your computer all day because it’s distracting so open it only when you know you have finished all your study and spend an allocated amount of time on it per day.

Why not use FB time as a reward for doing things in the real world?  Lets say; how ever many people you catch up with in the real world is how many hours you get to spend on facebook that day.  Have lunch with 3 friends = 3 hours on facebook that night.  Housemates don’t count unless you leave the house tho.  ;)

I wish you luck on your quest to return to the real world, FB me and tell me about your progress!

    xo Kia
